WASHINGTON — US Representative Michele Bachmann, fresh from a victory in a key Republican test vote, said Sunday she would reinstate a ban on gay troops serving openly in the military.
I want to die right now!
Can’t…. Handle… The fail.

John Hannah? Isn’t John Hannah Scottish too?
Must be something in the scotch up there. Or all the fried food.
AAaaand Ewan McGregor
If all Scottish dudes are hung like Ewan, I’m packin’ my damn bags tonight!
You can have your Scottish people. I go for Irish myself.
Oh yes, I’m looking at you… Liam Neeson.
Everyone is a bit in love with Liam Neeson, even if just for his voice.

I wouldn’t write off the blonde chick just yet. Maybe I’m just stubborn but either I don’t or don’t want to see the relationship you are talking about. Harvey cares about mike obviously as well as values his skill as a bright associate. not romanceAgree to disagree, then.
(You’re wrong. I’m pulling sister privileges.)
My dear, you lie through your teeth. Those privileges are nothing more than a myth.

I just got visited by a man who is a Jensen Ackles lookalike.
I do not give a fuck what our match percentage is, if he hits me up I am climbing that man like a TREE.
Exactly.
Only if he passes Hostile Interro(r)gation from mom’s FBI friends.

I realize this is about a subject that is almost two years old but I still find it necessary as a fan of the series to debate.
I liked Samus Aran in Metroid: Other M.
Please hold your fire and brimstone until after I explain why.
This was a one time experiment with Samus having a voice actor. Now many complaints say that her speaking role takes away her mysticism and stoicism. I agree with the first part that some air of mystery is lost from her talking about her past BUT instead we gain perspective by her telling the events of her life herself instead of leaving it up to a player to do it themselves.
Now many people have lost sight of what Stoicism means thus I will define it here.
Stoic: A person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining
That certainly sounds like her. However, every person has limits and one of hers was reached in this game.
The most controversy lies around Samus’ encounter with a regenerated form of Ridley, her long running arch nemesis, and suffering a complete uncharacteristic breakdown in his presence when before she showed absolutely no fear of him in previous games. Many people feel it is a disservice to Samus’ character to make her vulnerable and indeed strip away her power suit in his presence. People and the word of God (aka the producers) have explained it as Samus undergoing post traumatic stress. Even then the breakdown is uncharacteristic of her for the same reason.
I have an addendum for the PTSD argument. It didn’t happen just out of the blue like this. Something during that encounter triggered the wave of panic that hit her in this very crucial moment…
She fought Ridley, yes, but unlike before she did so IN THE PRESENCE OF OTHER PEOPLE.
There is a reason that she was fine when she fought Ridley before and never skipped a beat in hurling his ass into the next game. She was totally alone and able to focus on her task without other people being hurt. In all of Samus’ encounters with Ridley in all of the cannon media she had shown fear three times.
The first was what cemented her terrors. The death of her parents at Ridley’s hands. Seeing her parents die to Ridley when she was only three years old terrorized her for her entire life and became the reason she turned to hunting pirates in the first place.
The next time was in the manga when she served with The Federation as soldier. She and her squadmates come across Ridley and the pirates terrorizing a local populace. Ridley among them shown slaying civilians just as he did to her parents causes Samus to have a rather frightening panic attack where she absolutely gets on her knees and begs her squadmates to kill her just to make the memories go away. She begs for death because the memories of her parents being murdered are so vivid. This clearly shows that it haunts her 19 years after the indecent.
Finally we have the incident in the game. Samus and the group of Fedration marines that are still alive get attacked when Ridley arrives. One of them, Anthony, who has basically been her older brother her enter career, is knocked off a ledge to his presumed death with the marines. Seeing this digs up the memories and coupled with the shock of realizing that after killing him yet again in the previous games that he is once more back from the dead she goes into another attack. However, this makes her a stronger character.
I’ll let you absorb that last sentence for a bit.
Why is she a strong character? Because she over comes that overwhelming fear and fights back even when her friend is in danger. Especially because her friend is in danger. It proves that despite seeing the horrible memory of her parents murder she comes to terms with their death and redirects all of her emotions into snapping back to reality kicking Ridley’s ass.
I do not care who you are. Every human alive has at one point or another experiences feelings of futility, helplessness, and even fear. No matter how badass you seem you can break down and cry because something you experience is too much for you to handle. However a brief moment of weakness should not mean that someone has instantly become weak themselves. In fact it reminds all of us exactly how human they are and proves beyond doubt that even a cold and stoic badass warrior that is Samus Aran is can cry.
Even if they are heroic tears that can cure cancer or bring someone back from the dead.
As for her unquestioning obedience to Adam? That’s just military discipline. Officially he had control of the operation and based on their history Samus was comfortable under his command once more. Adam was basically her surrogate parent for the greatest majority of her life as a young woman and her commanding officer to boot. That is loyalty and respect between them and not dominance and submission.
In conclusion: Other M didn’t destroy Samus’ character. It DEFINES her true character and reminds us that even she isn’t invincible and emotionless. (Even though admittedly the voice acting sorta seems like that.)
Hi, I’m lefthandedwife’s bro. She calls me 3. As I have just created a tumbler myself read up all of her posts about me because they are likely to be deleted soon if not already.
Yeah, I like sandals and socks. THEY ARE COMFORTABLE, SO SHUT UP LHW!
Anyways, I’m pretty into the whole thing about gaming and technology and am currently working on a degree in computer science and a computer certification. Can’t do a whole lot of fancy complicated stuff like I want to but it will come in time on it’s own.
I also have a big interest in politics, social issues, and gender studies. Not entirely sure where my loyalties lie in terms of it or what a proper term for my beliefs would be.However, discussion and debate is welcomed with open arms on any subject of politics. Please challenge them as you see fit. It’s a chance to learn awesome shit that may change my outlook in some miniscule way.
